Shianco to Debut Third Leg vs Saints
Motor City
People in Detroit finally have their first football related topic to be excited about since the days of The Big Bad Barry. Except this time they will be trading rushing for crushing and spin moves for swim moves. After watching Ndamukong Suh handle Jake Delhomme like a chew toy, it is easy to see that this guy is the real deal. In fact, in my opinion, Suh is already the best Lions pick of the decade and he has not even played a down of NFL football. Not to take anything away from Calvin Johnson, but I am still a little weary of all Lions wide receivers after the ridiculous positional addiction Matt Millen could not overcome.
Stafford has the potential to be a very worthy pick, and can make huge strides in the right direction this year - but this Suh kid is impressive to say the least. He’s got a serious motor and I’m not talking about a hybrid either. Suh has horsepower and acceleration. After watching 2 pre-season games – yes, that’s all it took- I’m convinced that Dwight Freeney and Kris Jenkins mated at some point in 1987. I watched the kid play at Nebraska and although he moved mountains in Lincoln, I was not all the way convinced it would translate to the bigger more powerful NFL.
It has, and the Lions will benefit greatly. Add Kyle Vanden Bosch and Corey Williams to an improving defense and the Lions all of a sudden don’t resemble the worst franchise in sports. Well, let’s not get ahead of ourselves…
